Commis (Kitchen Assistant)

About the role

The Luxury Collection is seeking a motivated Commis to join its Food & Beverage team in Dubai. The role involves preparing special meals, maintaining kitchen standards, and supporting the Chef and service staff during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality and presentation standards.
• Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters.
• Thaw frozen items in refrigeration and ensure proper portioning and garnish.
• Maintain food logs and monitor quality and quantity of prepared dishes.
• Communicate menu specials, out‑of‑stock items and excess food to relevant staff.
• Assist with hiring, training, scheduling and coaching of junior team members.
• Follow safety, security and hygiene policies, reporting any incidents or maintenance needs.

Required profile

• Technical, trade or vocational school education related to culinary arts.
• Minimum three years of relevant kitchen experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to work standing, walking or bending for extended periods and lift objects up to 25 lb.

Required skills

• Food preparation and cooking techniques.
• Operation of kitchen equipment (ovens, grills, broilers, roasters).
• Temperature control and food safety practices.
