Consultant Physician – Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation

About the role

The Consultant Physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation will lead the delivery of high‑quality, evidence‑based care for patients across the division. This senior clinician is expected to model clinical excellence, supervise junior staff, and contribute to the department’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Support, implement, and follow all hospital, departmental and divisional policies and procedures.
• Lead performance‑management activities, including peer review and productivity/utilization reviews.
• Assist the Division Chief with scheduling, ensuring continuous medical coverage.
• Participate in divisional meetings and recruitment of new medical staff.
• Diagnose and treat patients according to best‑practice standards for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
• Oversee clinical activities of junior medical staff and assume responsibility for their patient care.
• Conduct ward rounds, reassess in‑patients and out‑patients regularly, and document clinical information promptly.
• Review investigation results, modify treatment plans as needed, and coordinate with other specialties.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings to plan safe, holistic patient care.
• Prepare patients for procedures, obtain informed consent, and accept appropriate referrals.
