DCS Field Service Engineer

About the role

The Field Service Engineer will manage all DCS/CS activities for GE Vernova Grid Automation projects across the UAE and Oman, both on‑shore and off‑shore. The role requires close coordination with DCS engineering, project management, application and after‑sales teams to ensure successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare signal lists from schematics and create interlocking documents from main PLDs.
• Deliver field services for Substation Automation Systems, including DCS/SCS, RTU and cybersecurity components.
• Own technical activities for assigned projects: site surveys, engineering, design, panel integration, FAT, site installation, testing, commissioning, red‑mark‑up and as‑built documentation.
• Perform and record tests for digital inputs, controls, IEC61850 IEDs, SCADA signals, and complex SCS/CS functionalities.
• Lead design and installation of substation LAN networks, industrial computers, Ethernet switches, firewalls, satellite clocks, fiber‑optic layouts and labeling.
• Prepare As‑Built documentation, backup equipment data and manage resource planning to maintain high billable ratios.

Required profile

• Strong communication and report‑writing abilities.
• Proven experience in leading substation LAN network design and field installations.
• Ability to plan projects, meet milestones and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in troubleshooting network connectivity in field environments.

Required skills

• IEC61850, DNP3, IEC101/IEC104, Modbus protocols.
• SCADA signal testing and IED configuration.
• LAN networking, Ethernet switches, firewall routers, satellite clocks.
• Fiber‑optic layout and labeling.
• PLC/PLD interlocking and cybersecurity.
• Network troubleshooting and resource planning.
