Deputy Store Manager – Sports Retail

About the role

The Deputy Store Manager, Sports will support the Store Manager in driving sales and ensuring smooth store operations. This role focuses on visual merchandising, customer service excellence, and motivating the store team while adhering to GMG standards.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate store targets, monitor sales performance and achieve financial objectives.
• Maintain loss‑prevention standards, cash handling procedures and fraud prevention.
• Oversee POS activities, including transactions, order tracking, returns, refunds and customer data collection.
• Audit store administration, support annual stock counts and conduct spot checks.
• Handle customer complaints, provide corrective actions and respond to feedback promptly.
• Analyse brand sales, market trends and competitor activity to propose actions that increase profitability.
• Maintain high‑standard window and in‑store displays in line with merchandising guidelines.
• Manage inventory: stock availability, order processing, back‑store organization and stock ageing.
• Coordinate facility repairs, ensure equipment upkeep and support asset‑life optimisation.
• Plan staffing levels, create schedules and ensure adequate coverage for peak periods and promotions.
• Train the team on inventory management techniques and discrepancy resolution.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in any discipline.
• 3‑4 years of relevant retail experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong product/category knowledge and customer‑orientation.
