Design Engineer I

About the role

The Engineering Technical Services (ETS) department at Emirates seeks a Design Engineer I to support the design, modification, and repair of large aeroplanes. You will work within the Emirates Design Organisation framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain the highest standards of safety and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Perform design engineering activities in accordance with the Emirates Design Organisation Handbook and certification approvals.
• Manage classification of changes to type certificates and repairs.
• Conduct compliance inspections and witness certification tests as required.
• Provide on‑site support during implementation of modifications and repairs.
• Develop and update compliance checklists and related documentation.
• Support other Technical Services Engineers on minor design changes.
• Assist the Office of Airworthiness with certification programmes, handbook updates, design data archiving, and regulatory audits.
• Collaborate with external vendors, MROs, and regulatory authorities to deliver engineering solutions.
• Review and approve change requests for metallic and composite aircraft structures, conduct fatigue and damage tolerance assessments, and produce required design and compliance documents.

• Fatigue and damage tolerance assessment
• Design of metallic and composite aircraft structures
• Preparation of compliance documentation (statements, engineering drawings, weight & balance analysis, test plans, inspection plans, equipment qualifications)
• Knowledge of GCAA/EASA regulatory requirements
• Ability to support certification and airworthiness activities
