About the role
The Design Engineer – Protection Systems will join Emirates Electrical Engineering, a business platform of Al Rostamani Group, to develop and deliver protection and control solutions for high‑voltage substations, cable networks and transmission lines across the UAE.
Key responsibilities
- Interpret customer and utility specifications (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, UL) to create protection panel designs.
- Produce engineering deliverables: single‑line diagrams, control and protection schematics, GA drawings, panel layouts, BOMs and cable schedules.
- Select and size protection relays, circuit breakers, CTs/VTs, meters, PLCs, HMIs, communication devices and power supplies.
- Design panel layouts, internal wiring and busbar systems while respecting thermal limits, short‑circuit ratings and safety clearances.
- Generate manufacturing drawings using AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN or ELCAD.
- Support tendering with technical input and optimized BOQ solutions.
- Coordinate with project, production, quality and planning teams to ensure on‑time, within‑budget delivery.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing and liaise with vendors for component approvals.
- Participate in customer meetings and design reviews to clarify requirements and drive improvements.
Required profile
- Electrical engineering background with experience in protection and control system design.
- Strong knowledge of international standards (IEC, IEEE, ANSI, UL).
- Ability to lead and coordinate with cross‑functional teams.
- Excellent documentation skills in line with ISO guidelines.
