Design Engineer - Scaffolding

About the role

The Design Engineer – Scaffolding is responsible for delivering accurate scaffold designs, calculations and technical documentation in line with British Standards, client requirements and project specifications. The role provides technical support across tendering, planning, execution and project close‑out phases.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare design calculations, technical drawings and modifications for all scaffolding works.
• Ensure scaffold designs comply with British Standards, company procedures and client specifications.
• Review and verify scaffold modifications to maintain structural safety.
• Coordinate with senior technical staff and other engineers to meet design and engineering requirements.
• Liaise with clients, site managers and supervisors to communicate design and technical needs.
• Support site teams in implementing approved designs on‑site.
• Assist the General Manager in preparing technical and commercial tender documents.
• Prepare quotations, quantity surveys and commercial documentation in partnership with the Quantity Surveyor.
• Develop Method Statements and Job Safety Analyses where required.
• Compile pre‑qualification documents and technical submissions for prospective and existing clients.

Required profile

• Proven experience in scaffolding design and engineering.
• Familiarity with applicable British Standards for scaffolding.
• Ability to produce accurate design calculations and technical drawings.
• Strong coordination skills with site teams, clients and internal departments.
