Director Legal & Compliance GLE (Gulf, Libya and Egypt)

About the role

The Director, Legal & Compliance GLE is responsible for providing legal advice, protecting the company’s legal interests, and upholding ethical business standards across the GLE Cluster (UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Kuwait, Libya, and Egypt). The role is based in Dubai and reports to the Regional Managing Counsel EEMEA.

Key responsibilities

• Provide legal and compliance guidance to ensure alignment with corporate, regional and local regulations.
• Partner with Business Practice Officers and divisional stakeholders to oversee compliance activities and lead compliance committee meetings.
• Manage external counsel engagements, budgets and ensure cost‑effective delivery of services.
• Advise on commercial matters including procurement, tenders, co‑promotion, sponsorships, grants, patient programs and marketing initiatives.
• Review, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements and support regulatory authorizations, product listings and clinical trial activities.
• Lead investigations, support litigation, disputes and coordinate with global IP teams on trademark and patent matters.

Required profile

• Law degree with admission to practice in a GLE jurisdiction (priority) and 10+ years post‑admission experience.
• Strong proficiency in Arabic and English, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
• Proven ability to deliver practical, commercially focused legal and compliance advice in a multinational environment.
• Experience in in‑house legal/compliance roles within large pharma or top‑tier law firms, including knowledge of FCPA, UK Bribery Act and industry codes.
