Drill Bit Repair Technician

About the role

The Drill Bit Repair Technician will report to the Operations Manager/Supervisor and perform a range of manual and machine‑based grinding, blast cleaning, brazing, welding and hard‑facing tasks. The role focuses on repairing and assembling drill bits and DLR components to high standards while ensuring safety and quality.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble components according to engineering drawings and established procedures.
• Perform TIG welding, oxy/acetylene and propane brazing, hard‑facing, and OD grinding operations.
• Use handheld grinding tools and OD grinding machines for precision work.
• Inspect repaired parts with standard measuring instruments, report non‑conformances and maintain accurate records.
• Maintain housekeeping, HSE compliance, and adhere to company policies.
• Load and unload materials using a forklift as required.
• Support other departments and undertake additional duties as directed.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with 3–6 years of relevant experience.
• Technical diploma in metal fabrication or welding processes (desirable).
• Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and schematics.
• Strong teamwork attitude and ability to work independently.
