Dry Utility Inspector – Construction Supervision

About the role

WSP is seeking a Dry Utility Inspector to join its Abu Dhabi team, supporting the construction supervision of major transportation, road and infrastructure projects. The role involves inspecting dry utility works, monitoring site activities and ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications, authority requirements and quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect dry utility works including electrical networks, street lighting, telecom and ICT systems.
• Monitor construction activities to verify adherence to drawings, specifications and local authority regulations.
• Conduct site inspections for trenching, duct banks, cable laying, chambers, substations and utility crossings.
• Review contractor shop drawings, method statements, material approvals and inspection requests.
• Coordinate with Resident Engineers, Site Engineers, contractors and utility authorities.
• Witness testing and commissioning of dry utility systems and document results.
• Identify non‑conforming works and support corrective actions.
• Maintain inspection records and prepare progress reports.
• Monitor health, safety and environmental compliance on site.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Dry Utility Inspector on infrastructure, roads or transportation projects.
• Proven experience in construction supervision consultancy environments.
• Strong knowledge of dry utility systems and UAE utility authority standards.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and construction documents.
