About the role
The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking for an EAL Student Support Assistant to join its dedicated EAL team. Working under the EAL Coordinator and Head of Inclusion, you will help students whose first language is not English to make progress academically and feel confident at school.
Key responsibilities
- Provide individual and small‑group support to EAL learners.
- Adapt resources and teaching strategies to meet each learner’s needs.
- Monitor pupil progress and keep accurate records of interventions.
- Assist in developing and reviewing Individual EAL Plans and support programmes.
- Build positive relationships with pupils, parents and staff.
- Participate in team meetings and collaborate with teachers and the inclusion team.
Required profile
- Fluent English speaker; additional language proficiency is a plus.
- Ability to work under guidance of senior EAL staff.
- Commitment to supporting the academic and wellbeing needs of EAL students.
Required skills
- Maintaining accurate records.
- Monitoring pupil progress.
- Adapting resources and strategies.
