EAL Student Support Assistant

About the role

The British International School Abu Dhabi is looking for an EAL Student Support Assistant to join its dedicated EAL team. Working under the EAL Coordinator and Head of Inclusion, you will help students whose first language is not English to make progress academically and feel confident in school.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual and small‑group support to EAL learners, adapting resources and strategies to meet their needs.
• Collaborate closely with class teachers, the EAL Coordinator and the Head of Inclusion to align support with classroom objectives.
• Monitor pupil progress, maintain accurate records and contribute to the development and review of Individual EAL Plans.
• Foster positive relationships with pupils, parents and colleagues, encouraging independence and effective communication.
• Participate in team meetings, school-wide initiatives and help strengthen links between home and school.

Required profile

• Fluent English speaker; additional language proficiency is an advantage.
• Experience or strong interest in supporting learners with English as an Additional Language.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with students, families and staff.
