Educator – Visitor Experience

About the role

The Educator is the front‑face of the National Aquarium, creating memorable experiences for visitors by sharing knowledge about marine animals and their habitats. You will receive training to enhance customer service, safety, and educational delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate education programmes such as school visits, workshops, guided tours, sleepovers, summer camps and pop‑up events.
• Deliver educational presentations using live animals and exhibits to promote wildlife appreciation and conservation.
• Develop and update educational displays, signage and written materials for accuracy.
• Liaise with schools to schedule and manage visits.
• Monitor animal behaviour and report any unusual activity to an Aquarist or supervisor.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and fully operational work area, including equipment checks.
• Provide accurate, engaging interpretive talks and answer guest questions promptly.
• Stay informed about aquarium operations, pricing, and upcoming activities.
• Follow all health, safety and front‑of‑house policies, ensuring guest, colleague and animal safety.

Required profile

• High knowledge of the animals on display and ability to source accurate information quickly.
• Understanding of safety procedures and commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
• Strong communication skills and a passion for environmental education.
