Engineering Manager – Lead AI Model Development (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a distributed team in building foundational large-language models. The role is fully remote and reports to a global technology leader, focusing on supervised fine-tuning and reinforcement-learning-from-human-feedback pipelines.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of 20+ developers across Python, Java, and JavaScript.
• Collaborate with researcher clients to ensure delivery meets scientific expectations.
• Maintain rigorous review processes for dataset quality and code standards.
• Oversee projects from initiation through stable production, taking full ownership of delivery.
• Identify and implement improvements to code quality and development workflows.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years in an engineering management role overseeing large technical teams.
• Hands-on ability to write and review code, resolve quality issues, and mentor engineers.
• Strong leadership and people-management skills with a focus on motivation.
