General Technician - Maintenance

About the role

The General Technician – Maintenance is responsible for responding to guest repair requests and ensuring the smooth operation of all building systems within a hotel environment. The role combines preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs across a wide range of equipment and facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to guest repair requests and communicate solutions promptly.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room assets, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Inspect, test, and repair air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic/electronic systems.
• Carry out minor carpentry, painting, drywall, and wood‑trim repairs.
• Replace light bulbs, A/C filters, electrical switches, outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program televisions, manage housekeeping and engineering inventory, and input air‑handler schedules.
• Use Lockout/Tagout procedures before any maintenance work.
• Maintain landscaping, sprinkler systems, and exterior repairs.
• Document daily activities and hand over information to subsequent shifts.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge of air‑conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and pneumatic/electronic controls.
• Familiarity with carpentry, painting, and general building maintenance.
• Ability to follow safety, security, and company policies, including proper handling of flammable materials.
• Physical capability to lift and move objects up to 50 lb and perform heavier tasks with assistance.
