Global Field Service Engineer – Electrical

About the role

Baker Hughes is seeking a Global Field Service Engineer specialized in electrical systems to join its BRUSH team. The role involves delivering commissioning, installation, repair, maintenance and upgrades for large rotating electrical machines and associated control equipment worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Commission HV generators, motors, synchronous condensers, power management systems, protection systems, excitation controllers (AVR) and synchronising equipment.
• Perform upgrades to AVRs, PMS, synchronisers, protection relays and other control elements.
• Conduct high‑ and low‑voltage testing on equipment and machine windings in the field.
• Provide training on Brush Power Gen products to clients and service colleagues.
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications and requirements.
• Attend technical meetings on‑site and at customer premises.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments for client sites.
• Assist mechanical service engineers on assignments when required.

Required profile

• Accredited Electrical or Electronic engineering qualification or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of networking protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet, IEC 61850 and Fibre (advantageous).
• Understanding of Health, Safety & Environment concepts and procedures.
• Minimum 5 years experience in electrical power generation and distribution systems.
• Self‑reliant, resourceful problem‑solver with strong commercial awareness.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Willingness to work overseas and offshore up to ~29 weeks per year.
• Proven ability to engage with external stakeholders and operate independently.
