Project Engineer – Drilling Waste Management & Solids Control

About the role

The Project Engineer – Drilling Waste Management (DWM) & Solids Control Equipment (SCE) is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of solids‑control systems at well sites. The role requires an in‑depth understanding of how drilling fluids interact with waste‑management equipment and the ability to troubleshoot advanced technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Install, rig up, operate and maintain solids‑control equipment such as shale shakers, centrifuges, desanders, desilters, high‑dryers and skip‑and‑ship units.
• Perform technical surveys, specify equipment ratings, and provide on‑site technical support and audits during drilling operations.
• Supervise field service technicians, conduct training for customers, and handle special projects as assigned.
• Conduct risk analyses (JSA) before tasks, ensure compliance with Quality, HSE and IT standards, and wear required PPE.
• Collect, validate and report daily solids‑control data, monitor discharge volumes, and maintain inventory at the well site.

Required profile

• Valid HSE certification and proven adherence to safety and electrical lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Physical strength to perform heavy manual labour for extended periods and ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience conducting field technical services for oil‑field customers and supervising remote staff.

Required skills

• Operation and troubleshooting of shale shakers, centrifuges, solids‑control pumps, SUPA VAC, skip‑and‑ship equipment, vertical dryers and dewatering systems.
• Knowledge of zero‑discharge systems, fixation units, screw conveyors and bulk handling (LMP) equipment.
• Electrical safety expertise, including grounding techniques and lock‑out/tag‑out procedures.
• Drilling fluid testing, calibration of testing equipment, and inventory management.
