Grinder Operator

About the role

We are looking for a skilled Grinder Operator to carry out grinding, cutting, beveling and surface preparation of pipes, plates, structural steel, ducts and metal supports on oil‑and‑gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role supports welders, pipe fitters, fabricators and MEP technicians, ensuring all work meets the required dimensions, finish and bevel angles.

Key responsibilities

• Perform grinding, cutting, beveling and surface preparation of various metal components using angle grinders, cutting machines and wire brushes.
• Prepare pipe and plate edges for welding and fabrication, selecting the correct disc or wheel for each material.
• Inspect grinding machines, cables, guards and discs before use and report any damage.
• Install fire blankets and control sparks to protect nearby workers, equipment and combustible materials.
• Maintain good housekeeping by removing metal scraps and used discs from the work area.

Required profile

• Minimum secondary‑school education or relevant trade certification.
• 2–3 years of experience as a grinder on oil‑and‑gas, piping, structural, fabrication or MEP projects.
• Preferably experience on ADNOC projects; third‑party trade certification may be required.

Required skills

• Grinding, cutting and beveling of carbon steel, stainless steel, galvanized steel and other approved materials.
• Operation of angle grinders, cutting machines and wire brushes.
• Selection of appropriate grinding discs or cutting wheels for specific materials.
• Use of personal protective equipment including face shield, safety goggles, gloves, hearing and respiratory protection.
• Installation of fire blankets and spark control measures.
