Head of Regulatory Affairs & Licensing – Middle East

About the role

Tether.io is seeking a senior leader to head its Regulatory Affairs and Licensing function across the Middle East. The role will shape and execute the company’s strategy to navigate the evolving regulatory landscape for crypto‑assets and stablecoins, ensuring compliance while supporting growth in the region.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead the regulatory and licensing roadmap for Tether’s operations in the UAE and GCC markets.
• Monitor and interpret local financial and digital‑asset regulations, advising internal teams on compliance requirements.
• Engage with regulators, industry bodies, and government agencies to build constructive relationships and influence policy.
• Prepare and submit licensing applications, reports, and ongoing compliance documentation.
• Collaborate with product, legal, and risk teams to embed regulatory considerations into product design and launch plans.
• Lead a small regional regulatory team, providing mentorship and performance oversight.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in crypto‑asset, stablecoin, or digital‑finance regulatory environments within the Middle East.
• Proven track record of obtaining and managing financial licences in the UAE or neighboring jurisdictions.
• Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities, with excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Self‑starter attitude, capable of working independently and driving initiatives forward.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of UAE and GCC financial regulations affecting digital assets.
• Understanding of anti‑money‑laundering (AML) and counter‑terrorist financing (CTF) frameworks.
• Experience with regulatory filing processes and stakeholder management.
