HSE Engineer – Project Safety Management

About the role

The HSE Engineer will support NMDC Dredging and Marine in delivering projects with minimal environmental impact while ensuring the safety of staff and operations. This role focuses on implementing and maintaining the HSE Management System (HSEMS) across all project activities.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the HSEMS throughout project execution.
• Conduct safety inspections of site facilities, equipment, and marine units using HSE checklists.
• Report, investigate and analyse accidents, near‑misses, and sub‑standard practices.
• Lead safety group meetings, coach workforce on HSE policies, emergency procedures and standards.
• Ensure lifesaving and fire‑fighting equipment are maintained, certified and ready for use.
• Supervise subcontractors and site teams on safety matters.
• Coordinate accident investigations, track incidents and drive corrective actions.
• Maintain HSE registers, incident reports, lessons‑learned databases and statistical reports.
• Prepare and deliver HSE training plans and monitor competency.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HSE management for construction or marine projects.
• Ability to conduct safety inspections, incident investigations and root‑cause analysis.
• Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, JSA (Job Safety Analysis) and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent communication skills for coaching and conducting safety meetings.
