HSE Inspector – Tunneling & Rail Projects

About the role

The HSE Inspector will support AECOM’s major infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi, focusing on tunneling and rail construction. Working under direct supervision, you will help ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic and routine duties across environmental, health and safety disciplines to maintain compliance.
• Assist in developing, implementing and maintaining safety and health programs, systems and procedures.
• Monitor workplace hazards and potential disease exposure, and investigate accidents, injuries and complaints.
• Recommend improvements to processes, designs, procedures and equipment to minimise hazards.
• Support employee training, emergency preparedness and quality assurance of HSE programs.

Required profile

• Minimum 7 years of HSE experience on major infrastructure construction projects.
• Mandatory experience with tunnelling methods such as TBM, NATM, Cut & Cover or similar.
• Experience on high‑speed rail, metro or rail infrastructure projects is essential.
• Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, risk assessment and permit‑to‑work systems.
• Relevant certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH Managing Safely, OSHA Safety, and First Aid/Fire Warden.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or related field.
