Lab Technician

About the role

The Westminster School in Dubai is seeking a Lab Technician to support science practical lessons and examinations. The role involves preparing equipment, ensuring safety, and assisting teachers in delivering hands‑on laboratory activities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare laboratory equipment, chemicals, specimens and materials for science lessons.
• Set up and dismantle experiments before and after classes.
• Maintain a clean, organized and safe laboratory environment.
• Calibrate, maintain and perform basic repairs on laboratory equipment.
• Manage inventory, order supplies and store chemicals according to safety regulations.
• Label, store and dispose of hazardous materials safely.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and ensure compliance with school health policies.
• Support teachers during lab sessions and provide technical assistance.
• Keep accurate records of equipment maintenance, chemical usage and inventory.
• Assist in developing and updating laboratory procedures and safety documentation.
• Inspect emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, eyewash stations and first‑aid kits.
• Support school activities and examinations, including lab practical exams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biology or Physics.
• Previous experience in a school, college, university or research laboratory preferred.
• Knowledge of laboratory safety standards and chemical handling procedures.
• Strong record‑keeping and computer skills.
