Lead Construction Engineer – Mechanical & Piping

About the role

Penspen is seeking an experienced Lead Construction Engineer specialized in Mechanical and Piping for a high‑profile PMC project in the UAE. The role involves directing offshore construction activities, ensuring technical excellence, and maintaining strict HSE standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage offshore construction teams, including engineers, supervisors and subcontractors.
• Oversee installation, hookup and commissioning of offshore facilities such as platforms, pipelines and subsea structures.
• Ensure construction activities align with project schedules, budgets and technical specifications.
• Provide technical guidance to resolve construction‑related challenges and uphold engineering standards.
• Review and approve construction drawings, procedures and method statements.
• Enforce strict adherence to HSE standards during all offshore operations.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for high‑risk activities.
• Collaborate with project managers, design engineers and client representatives to align construction goals.
• Facilitate daily briefings, progress reviews and reporting to senior management and stakeholders.
• Develop and implement hookup strategies and offshore construction plans.
• Monitor progress and adjust plans to address delays or unforeseen issues.

Required profile

• Minimum 15‑20+ years of offshore oil and gas construction experience, preferably in an EPC environment.
• Strong experience in piping erection, mechanical equipment installation and topside construction.
• Proven leadership, problem‑solving and communication abilities.
• Familiarity with regional regulations and offshore construction practices.
• PMC experience is preferred; prior work on ADNOC offshore projects is an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Piping or a related engineering discipline.
