Lead Document Controller

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Document Controller to oversee the document control function for large‑scale EPC projects in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures efficient handling, tracking, distribution and archiving of all project documentation in line with client standards and company procedures.

Key responsibilities

• Establish and maintain document control procedures, workflows and electronic document management systems (EDMS).
• Manage the full document lifecycle – receipt, review, approval, distribution, versioning and archiving.
• Configure and administer EDMS tools such as Aconex, SharePoint and Documentum, including access controls and document registers.
• Coordinate with engineering, procurement, construction, QA/QC and subcontractors to secure timely document submissions and approvals.
• Maintain Master Document Register (MDR), Supplier Document Register (SDR) and transmittal logs; conduct periodic audits for accuracy and traceability.
• Generate status reports, dashboards and KPIs for management review.
• Lead, coach and allocate work for the document control team, ensuring performance and timely deliverables.
• Oversee systematic archiving of hard‑copy and electronic records and manage final handover documentation to the client.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Information Management or Business Administration.
• 10–18 years of document control experience in EPC projects, with at least 5–8 years in a leadership role.
• Proven experience on large Oil & Gas or offshore projects, preferably in the Middle East.
