Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer

About the role

James L Williams Middle East is looking for a Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer to head commissioning activities on mission‑critical data‑centre projects across the United Arab Emirates. The role will oversee the full commissioning lifecycle from equipment readiness through functional performance testing and integrated systems testing.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical commissioning from L1/L2 readiness through L4 functional performance testing and L5 integrated systems testing.
• Develop, review and approve commissioning plans, method statements, test scripts and inspection records.
• Manage testing of MV/HV and LV systems, transformers, switchgear, UPS/battery systems, generators, ATS/STS, busways, PDUs and RPPs.
• Coordinate OEMs, subcontractors and internal teams during FAT, SAT, start‑up and functional testing.
• Plan and execute normal, abnormal and failure scenarios including utility loss, UPS ride‑through and generator start‑up.
• Review and verify short‑circuit, protection coordination and arc‑flash studies, and oversee energisation procedures.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical & Electronics Engineering.
• Minimum 8 years of electrical construction, testing and commissioning experience, with at least 5 years in data‑centre projects.
• Proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing large‑scale colocation or hyperscale data‑centres.
• Strong knowledge of critical power infrastructure, protection systems and data‑centre redundancy concepts (N, N+1, 2N, etc.).
