Lead Electrical Engineer – Project Engineer (Electrical)

About the role

The Project Engineer (Electrical) – PMT will act as the Owner/PMC representative, ensuring that all electrical systems and equipment are designed, procured, installed, tested and commissioned in line with project specifications, international standards and contractual requirements. The role focuses on engineering assurance, system integration, vendor coordination and construction oversight for power generation and distribution projects in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve EPC contractor deliverables such as single line diagrams, load lists, load flow studies, short‑circuit and protection coordination studies, cable routing and earthing designs.
• Verify equipment sizing, power system reliability, redundancy and hazardous‑area compliance.
• Oversee design and execution of HV/MV/LV distribution systems, GIS/AIS substations, diesel generators, UPS systems and related equipment.
• Coordinate with process, mechanical, instrumentation, telecom and civil teams to ensure proper interface management.
• Participate in HAZOP/HAZID reviews, model reviews and design workshops.
• Evaluate technical bids, monitor vendor engineering submissions, manufacturing and FAT schedules.
• Monitor site and fabrication activities including cable laying, termination and installation.
• Ensure compliance with client standards (ADNOC, Aramco, QatarEnergy) and international codes (IEC, IEEE, NFPA).

Required profile

• Proven experience reviewing EPC electrical deliverables and managing vendor activities.
• Familiarity with client standards (ADNOC, Aramco, QatarEnergy) and international standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA).
• Strong understanding of power generation, distribution and protection systems.
