Lead Mechanical Engineer

About the role

China State Construction Middle East is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to head the mechanical discipline within its Engineering team at the Dubai head office. The role involves overseeing all mechanical works, ensuring design quality, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities

• Review tender drawings and specifications, raise RFIs where necessary.
• Lead and support the mechanical engineering team, assigning tasks and monitoring performance.
• Ensure engineering designs comply with client requirements, design standards, codes of practice and good engineering principles.
• Maintain effective relationships with other disciplines and local authorities, securing approvals for mechanical service drawings and inspections.
• Provide technical input to the Procurement department and evaluate supplier offers.
• Manage day‑to‑day scheduling of activities and resolve operational issues.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering on construction projects.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and mechanical design.
• Familiarity with local authority procedures and approval processes.
