Material Inspector

About the role

The Material Inspector ensures that all construction materials delivered to the site comply with RTA specifications, approved submittals and contract requirements. This role involves inspecting, sampling, testing and documenting materials used in roadworks, bridges, drainage and utility projects across Dubai.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and verify delivery notes, batch certificates, test reports and source approvals before material acceptance.
• Carry out sampling and witness laboratory and field tests for soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel and other civil materials according to approved ITPs.
• Monitor storage, handling and protection of materials to prevent contamination, segregation or damage.
• Coordinate testing schedules and approvals with the Material Engineer and Site Engineer.
• Inspect asphalt paving, concrete works, earthworks and backfilling to ensure correct materials and workmanship.
• Review and submit Work Inspection Requests (WIRs) related to materials and civil works.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, test results and material logs for QA/QC and as‑built documentation.
• Identify non‑conforming materials, raise NCRs, and follow up on corrective actions.
• Support RTA inspections and audits by providing required documentation and site assistance.

Required profile

• Ability to verify material source approvals, delivery documentation and test reports.
• Experience in sampling and witnessing tests for soil, aggregates, concrete, asphalt and steel.
• Familiarity with RTA specifications, approved suppliers and testing laboratories.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate inspection records.
• Capability to work closely with Material and Site Engineers on testing schedules and issue resolution.
