Materials Engineer

About the role

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Materials Engineer to ensure that all materials used on its projects in Dubai meet project specifications and regulatory approvals. You will work closely with the Senior Resident Engineer and contractors to guarantee material compliance and quality throughout the construction lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Review and approve contractor‑proposed materials and methods as directed by the Senior Resident Engineer.
• Provide daily oversight of contractor activities, including work assignments, on‑site performance, and operational guidance.
• Lead and attend on‑site inspections, coordinating with both resident and contractor supervision staff.
• Follow up on testing, approvals, and reports from relevant authorities.
• Monitor material delivery performance and verify accuracy of materials used on site.
• Coordinate schedule, sequence, and method of work with contractor supervisory personnel.
• Prepare reports for the Resident Engineer on contractual and procedural matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience on large construction programmes and design‑and‑build contracts.
• Proven work on large infrastructure or landscape projects in the region.
• Good knowledge of local material standards and regulatory requirements.
• Commitment to ethical practice, safety, and security.
