Mechanical Engineer Lead - Data Centre Segment

About the role

Eaton is seeking a Mechanical Engineer Lead to drive the design and implementation of cooling infrastructure for hyperscale and enterprise data centre projects in Dubai. The role combines advanced engineering principles with data‑driven methodologies to deliver efficient, reliable, and scalable thermal solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of innovative data centre cooling solutions using Eaton’s portfolio and third‑party equipment.
• Provide technical leadership for mechanical design aspects such as whitespace layout, chiller plants, Air Handling Units (AHUs), fan wall units, and facility water systems.
• Develop and implement advanced cooling strategies, including hot/cold aisle containment, air, liquid, and hybrid systems.
• Research, evaluate, and design emerging technologies like direct‑to‑chip liquid cooling and Cooling Distribution Units (CDUs).
• Conduct or support Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis to optimise airflow and meet Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) targets.
• Collaborate with systems engineers, business teams, clients, and consultants to ensure technical quality from quotation to commissioning.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading mechanical design projects for data centres or similar high‑density environments.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to use statistical analysis tools for performance optimisation.
• Excellent collaboration skills to work with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
• Ability to translate customer specifications into reliable engineering solutions.
