Operational Engineer Level 1 – Cyber Defence (CSOC)

About the role

Emirates’ Cyber Defence Operations team is urgently hiring an Operational Engineer – Level 1 (CSOC) to monitor, analyse and respond to cybersecurity events. Based on‑site in Dubai, the position works in a 24 × 7 shift rotation as the first line of defence against threats.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to incoming security incidents and service requests, performing detection, prevention and reporting of attacks, intrusions and anomalous activities.
• Correlate security events from multiple sources and document incidents throughout the incident‑management process.
• Collaborate with Level 2 engineers for escalation, detailed analysis and remediation.
• Maintain shift hand‑over procedures and provide basic KPI reporting inputs.

Required profile

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or related field (or 4 years equivalent experience).
• 2 + years experience in a large‑scale IT environment with a focus on information security.
• Experience in a Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC) or Network Operations Centre (NOC) is preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency with SIEM tools for log collection, correlation and analysis.
• Knowledge of incident‑response procedures and threat‑detection techniques.
• Understanding of network protocols, traffic analysis, routing and switching.
• Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems, firewalls and basic network security configurations.
• Experience with IAM tools, web servers, databases and security best‑practice frameworks.
