Operations Manager / Business Unit Head – Ship Management

About the role

Based in Dubai and reporting to the VP of Port Services – MEA, the Operations Manager / BU Head leads the Ship Management Business Unit for DP World Maritime Solutions. The role oversees financial, HR, crewing, HSSEQ, operational delivery and technical oversight to ensure safe, efficient and cost‑effective vessel operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain fleet vessels to meet statutory and charter obligations.
• Liaise with Masters, Chief Engineers and sea staff to resolve vessel and equipment issues.
• Manage technical projects such as dry dockings, new installations and conversions.
• Oversee technical and operational functions, including leave relief and asset planning.
• Develop and enforce procedures for operational expense accountability.
• Conduct routine vessel inspections to verify equipment functionality and compliance.
• Lead vessel vetting performance and support client inspections.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with regulatory and company standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing a maritime business unit or similar operation.
• Strong leadership skills to develop local teams and nurture new talent.
• Ability to travel worldwide on short notice, including extended overseas stays.
• Excellent stakeholder and customer management capabilities.
