Planning Engineer

About the role

The Planning Engineer will estimate project timescales, monitor progress and ensure that all deadlines are met. Working closely with site managers, engineers and subcontractors, the role guarantees that material supplies and resources are available to keep construction on schedule.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Planning Manager in developing and continuously updating detailed construction schedules.
• Prepare weekly, monthly and three‑week look‑ahead reports to monitor progress against the baseline.
• Perform logic network planning using the Critical Path Method (CPM) and analyse schedule variances.
• Review and obtain approval for baseline and look‑ahead schedules from the Project Manager and Planning Manager.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, procurement activities and resource utilisation.
• Identify delays, analyse root causes and propose corrective actions to keep the project on track.
• Support the development of commissioning plans and ensure HSE & quality policies are enforced.
• Coordinate with senior planners and contracts engineers to produce notices of delay or claims.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 60 months (5 years) of experience in construction planning and scheduling.
• Strong knowledge of HSE and quality management systems.
• Ability to work on‑site, conduct site visits and liaise with multidisciplinary teams.
