Post-Doctoral Associate – Population Health Research

About the role

The Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on population health and its determinants in low‑and‑middle‑income countries. The appointment begins on September 1, 2026 and may last up to three years.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research on population health, including conceptualizing questions and designing empirical studies.
• Collaborate with Professor Stéphane Helleringer on projects addressing measurement issues and the impact of crises such as epidemics and disasters.
• Collect or acquire new data sets, manage and analyze data using advanced statistical models and visualization techniques.
• Prepare peer‑reviewed manuscripts, develop software packages, and present findings at international conferences.

Required profile

• PhD (or soon to be awarded) in demography, epidemiology, public health, or a related social‑science discipline.
• Experience with data collection and collaboration in low‑and‑middle‑income countries.
• Strong knowledge of R or comparable software for data management, analysis, and visualization.
• Teaching experience is optional and may be compensated.
