Principal Engineer – Complex Systems Architecture

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Principal Engineer to design and build the core distributed systems of a next‑generation AI Intelligence Platform. This is a builder role where you will own a critical technical workstream from concept through production, collaborating closely with a highly technical founding team.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, implement, and deploy complex, production‑scale distributed systems.
• Design and maintain data‑intensive, event‑driven pipelines with fault‑tolerant guarantees.
• Manage end‑to‑end lifecycle including schema evolution, observability, and continuous delivery.
• Work independently in ambiguous environments, providing strong architectural judgement.
• Collaborate with the founding team to align technical decisions with product goals.

Required profile

• 7+ years of engineering experience building large‑scale distributed systems.
• Builder mindset with a proven track record of designing, coding, and operating complex technology in production.
• Ability to operate autonomously and make high‑impact technical decisions.
• Experience in AI infrastructure, deep‑tech, or mission‑critical platforms is a strong plus.

Required skills

• Expert Python development, including Pydantic, asyncio, and strong typing.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Design of fault‑tolerant architectures, data pipelines, schema evolution, and observability.
• Experience with event‑driven, data‑intensive systems.
• Familiarity with Dagster or Ray, knowledge graphs, vector databases, and on‑premise/air‑gapped LLM infrastructure is advantageous.
