About the role

EDGE Group is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of a next‑generation geospatial imagery and intelligence platform. The role combines software engineering, cloud‑native architecture, and geospatial data expertise to deliver mission‑critical services for defense and intelligence operations.

Key responsibilities

Design and implement scalable geospatial applications, APIs, and imagery pipelines using Python and modern web frameworks.
Build interactive 2D/3D mapping interfaces with Leaflet, OpenLayers, MapLibre GL, Cesium or Deck.gl.
Architect and manage PostGIS databases and geospatial services (STAC, OGC APIs, WMS/WMTS/WFS) via GeoServer and related tools.
Deploy cloud‑native microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
Develop processing workflows for EO, SAR, multispectral and hyperspectral data.
Integrate external satellite, GIS, ISR and other geospatial data sources.
Collaborate with data‑science teams to embed AI/ML and computer‑vision capabilities.
Ensure platform security, performance, scalability and adherence to engineering best practices.

Required profile

5+ years of experience building geospatial software solutions.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
Proven ability to work across full‑stack development, cloud infrastructure and data engineering.
