About the role
EDGE Group is looking for a Principal Engineer to lead the design and development of a next‑generation geospatial imagery and intelligence platform. The role combines software engineering, cloud‑native architecture, and geospatial data expertise to deliver mission‑critical services for defense and intelligence operations.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable geospatial applications, APIs, and imagery pipelines using Python and modern web frameworks.
- Build interactive 2D/3D mapping interfaces with Leaflet, OpenLayers, MapLibre GL, Cesium or Deck.gl.
- Architect and manage PostGIS databases and geospatial services (STAC, OGC APIs, WMS/WMTS/WFS) via GeoServer and related tools.
- Deploy cloud‑native microservices, CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers, Kubernetes clusters, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code.
- Develop processing workflows for EO, SAR, multispectral and hyperspectral data.
- Integrate external satellite, GIS, ISR and other geospatial data sources.
- Collaborate with data‑science teams to embed AI/ML and computer‑vision capabilities.
- Ensure platform security, performance, scalability and adherence to engineering best practices.
Required profile
- 5+ years of experience building geospatial software solutions.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
- Proven ability to work across full‑stack development, cloud infrastructure and data engineering.
