Principal Pipeline Welding Engineer

About the role

The Principal Welding Engineer interprets internal and external business issues and recommends best practices. They solve complex welding‑related problems and work independently with minimal guidance.

Key responsibilities

• Guide the welding engineering discipline and provide metallurgical consulting for onshore and offshore projects.
• Develop and manage Project Welding Qualification Execution Plans, including schedules, procedures, and consumable requirements.
• Review, approve, and communicate project weld procedures with customers and certifying authorities.
• Select appropriate electrodes based on physical, chemical, corrosion, weldability and economic factors.
• Oversee welding school facilities to train the workforce and improve workmanship.
• Support the development and implementation of automatic welding systems.
• Estimate, requisition, and monitor project‑specific welding consumables and forecast DOE consumables.
• Conduct readiness reviews for offshore campaigns and liaise with fabrication, marine, and global welding groups.

Required profile

• MS/M Tech/ME in Welding or related engineering discipline.
• BS/BE/B Tech in Welding, Metallurgy, or Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in welding, metallurgy, materials and subsea pipeline projects.
• Professional membership (e.g., C Eng., Senior Member of Welding Institute) preferred.
• Welding inspection qualification preferred.
