Principal Project Engineer

About the role

The Principal Project Engineer leads the engineering scope of McDermott projects in Dubai, ensuring technical solutions meet contract requirements and business objectives. Working with minimal supervision, the role drives best‑practice engineering delivery across complex EPC assignments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the engineering scope and develop the Project Execution Plan for assigned projects.
• Establish and enforce project procedures to guarantee quality and technical compliance.
• Coordinate with Engineering and Design Leads, supervise other Project Engineers, and ensure effective multidisciplinary communication.
• Prepare and approve technical queries, design deviations, RFI responses, and weekly/monthly management reports.
• Support proposal preparation and, where appropriate, act as Project Engineering Manager for medium‑size projects.
• Control cost, schedule, quantity, and budget while proactively managing change.
• Develop and maintain project engineering documents, staffing plans, equipment lists, and change notices.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in project engineering within the EPC or construction industry.
• Proven ability to lead functional teams and manage large‑scale engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of contract documents, safety standards, and engineering best practices.
• Excellent communication skills for interfacing with clients, internal teams, and senior management.
