Principal Systems Engineer

About the role

Join ADCB’s Group Business Services team as a Principal Systems Engineer, where you will lead the design, implementation and governance of technology solutions that drive the bank’s digital evolution. You will work in cross‑functional squads, mentor engineers and ensure that all technical artefacts meet ADCB’s engineering standards and business objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Manage design, implementation and technical artefacts across technology lifecycles, adhering to ADCB engineering standards and guardrails.
• Build and apply repeatable design patterns, components and solutions that meet security, scalability, reliability and performance requirements.
• Mentor and coach engineers, sharing current technology trends and best‑practice approaches.
• Oversee day‑to‑day execution of digital strategy, roadmaps and prioritized initiatives, ensuring agreed turnaround times.
• Guide data‑driven performance reporting, insights and continuous improvement.
• Lead change control, testing, incident management, troubleshooting and release management activities.
• Identify innovation opportunities and improve software development processes and tools.
• Coordinate with external vendors to enforce SLAs and manage remediation plans.
• Collaborate with solution architects and vendors to enhance capabilities and address technical debt.
• Manage self and team in line with ADCB people‑management policies.

Required profile

• Proven senior‑level experience in systems engineering, architecture and delivery within a large‑scale, regulated environment.
• Strong leadership and people‑management skills, with a track record of mentoring technical teams.
• Excellent analytical mindset and ability to drive data‑based decision making.
• Experience working with cross‑functional squads and agile delivery models.
• Ability to manage vendor relationships and enforce service level agreements.
