Principal Traffic Engineer – Lead Traffic Engineering Practice

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Principal Traffic Engineer / Traffic Engineering Lead to head and grow our traffic engineering practice in Abu Dhabi. The role combines technical leadership, team management, client engagement and business development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage Traffic Impact Studies (TIS), Transportation Master Plans (TMP), Access & Circulation Studies, and other traffic engineering studies.
• Develop and review strategic transport models using CUBE Voyager / Abu Dhabi STEAM and PTV Visum.
• Carry out and oversee traffic operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIDRA, HCS, and related software.
• Lead traffic forecasting, junction/corridor assessments, access planning, and development of traffic improvement measures.
• Manage projects through Abu Dhabi authority submission, review, and approval processes.
• Lead, mentor, and build a team of traffic engineers and transport modellers.
• Manage client relationships and represent the company in technical and commercial meetings.
• Support business development, including identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, developing scopes and fees, and winning new work.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil / Transportation Engineering or related discipline; Master's or PhD is desirable.
• 15–20 years of relevant experience in traffic engineering and transportation planning.
• Strong Abu Dhabi / UAE experience and good knowledge of local authority requirements and approval processes.
• Proven experience in leading and managing technical teams.
• Strong client management and business development experience, including proposals, tenders, and securing new work.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder‑management skills.
