Process Engineer (UAE National) – Oil & Gas

About the role

Wood is seeking UAE National Process Engineers to join its Engineering and Projects team in Sharjah. The position is open to fresh graduates as well as professionals with up to 10 years of experience in the oil and gas sector, supporting the company’s Emiratization goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and review process engineering deliverables for FEED, detailed design, and brownfield/greenfield projects.
• Prepare and review PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, process calculations, and utility consumption studies.
• Conduct process simulation studies and perform material and energy balances.
• Participate in HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, and design review workshops.
• Support equipment sizing and selection (vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, control valves).
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, start‑up, and operational phases.
• Identify opportunities for process optimisation, energy efficiency and plant performance improvements.
• Mentor junior engineers and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline.
• 0‑3 years of experience for graduate/junior level or 4‑10 years of relevant oil & gas, LNG, petrochemical, refining or EPC experience for mid‑level roles.
• Experience with FEED, detailed design, brownfield or greenfield projects is preferred.

Required skills

• Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
• Process simulation and engineering calculations.
• Equipment datasheet preparation and equipment sizing.
• HAZOP, HAZID and SIL studies.
• Design review and risk assessment workshops.
• Knowledge of process optimisation and energy efficiency techniques.
