Quality Inspector I – Electrical Installation

About the role

The Quality Inspector I will be responsible for inspecting and testing temporary electrical works, cable installations and equipment at substations across Petrofac projects in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures that all electrical installations comply with relevant standards and manufacturer recommendations, supporting safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Inspect and test temporary electrical works and connections to camp facilities.
• Verify installation of supports, cable trays, conduits and underground stub‑ups before cable laying.
• Monitor cable trench dimensions, sand bedding, segregation and back‑filling.
• Witness insulation resistance, continuity, Hi‑pot and IR tests of cables, as well as final torquing of terminations.
• Supervise installation of cable tray covers and equipment at substations, ensuring manufacturer guidelines are followed.
• Monitor preservation activities for switchgear, transformers, bus ducts and related equipment.
• Inspect switchgear alignment and location, witness bus‑bar joint torquing, doctor tests, IR tests and Hi‑pot tests where applicable.

Required profile

• Minimum 120 months (10 years) of experience in electrical inspection and testing.
• Strong knowledge of IEC 60079‑17 and IEC 60079‑14 standards.
• Proven experience with installation of distribution boards, motors and cable systems.
• Ability to witness and verify electrical testing procedures and ensure compliance with manufacturer recommendations.
