Quality Inspector – Welding & Coating

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Quality Inspector (Inspector I) to oversee welding and coating activities on its Abu Dhabi site. You will ensure that fabrication, installation, and testing of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and other metallic items meet the highest quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on fabrication, erection and testing processes for process piping and steel structures.
• Review Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR) and weld maps.
• Witness welder qualifications and verify proper storage, handling and traceability of welding consumables.
• Ensure welding equipment is serviceable and calibrated.
• Conduct visual and dimensional inspections during fabrication and construction.
• Check compliance with approved welding parameters, PWHT charts and project specifications.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, daily welding reports and fit‑up/final visual documentation.
• Verify that painting/coating materials are handled according to manufacturers’ instructions and MSDS.
• Monitor contractor performance and confirm that personnel hold valid certifications for the techniques used.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in welding inspection or a related engineering discipline.
• Valid welding inspection certification (e.g., CWI, CSWIP) and experience with welding consumable control.
• Familiarity with PWHT procedures, MSDS compliance and coating inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and test reports.
• Experience working on large‑scale industrial projects, preferably in the energy sector.
