Quant Desk Lead and Portfolio Manager

About the role

EMCD is seeking a Quant Desk Lead and Portfolio Manager to head the systematic quant desk across its two funds. The role combines ownership of the trading book, research platform, execution, risk monitoring, and P&L, with a focus on rapid deployment of live strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the quant desk and manage the book for both funds, including position sizing, execution, hedging, leverage, and exposure within the risk policy.
• Research, build, test, and deploy systematic strategies into live trading.
• Own the end‑to‑end research platform: data ingestion, backtesting, execution, and live risk monitoring.
• Set realistic backtesting standards, accounting for fees, funding, slippage, fills, turnover, and capacity.
• Decide on the future of the existing statistical arbitrage sleeve or its replacement.
• Report weekly performance, risk, and attribution to the CIO and Risk Manager.

Required profile

• Proven live track record with market‑neutral, long‑short, statistical arbitrage, funding arbitrage, or cross‑exchange arbitrage strategies using real capital.
• Deep understanding of crypto derivatives, including perpetual futures, funding, liquidation dynamics, margin, and risk.
• Ability to work independently as the sole owner of the desk without a research team.
• Strong validation discipline: out‑of‑sample, walk‑forward testing, and multiple‑testing correction.
