Remote Node.js Software Engineer (Contract)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced software engineer to help train and evaluate next‑generation AI systems by tackling real‑world engineering tasks. This remote contract position is ideal for developers who can quickly understand unfamiliar codebases, communicate technical decisions clearly, and solve backend, full‑stack, or infrastructure challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Work on diverse engineering problems across backend, full‑stack, infrastructure, and systems projects.
• Review, debug, improve, and document code in various technical environments.
• Design or evaluate solutions involving APIs, databases, services, integrations, testing, and deployment workflows.
• Identify trade‑offs related to scalability, performance, reliability, security, and developer experience.
• Write clear technical explanations and collaborate with the customer’s team on reviews and implementation decisions.
• Adapt rapidly to new codebases, frameworks, and requirements.

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands‑on software engineering experience.
• Strong experience in at least one backend or full‑stack language (e.g., Node.js, Python, Java, C#, C++, Go, Ruby, PHP).
• Proven ability to read and reason through unfamiliar code and technical specifications.
• Excellent written communication skills for explaining engineering decisions.
