Research Scientist – NLP (LLM focus)

About the role

As a Research Scientist specializing in Natural Language Processing with a focus on large language models and deep learning, you will advance cutting‑edge language processing technologies and contribute to intelligent systems at MBZUAI.

Key responsibilities

• Lead research to improve efficiency of Large Language Models, including novel architectures and pre‑training methods.
• Design and implement NLP algorithms for model training and prediction using PyTorch or similar frameworks.
• Integrate LLMs with other modalities such as computer‑vision models and optimize data processing pipelines.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, conduct code reviews, and document results in technical reports and publications.
• Represent MBZUAI at conferences and industry events.

Required profile

• Minimum Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field; PhD preferred.
• Experience with state‑of‑the‑art generative AI techniques, large language models, and multimodal models.
• Strong problem‑solving, communication, and ability to work in ambiguous environments.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• PyTorch (or other deep‑learning frameworks).
• Machine learning algorithms and data structures.
• Experience with ML infrastructure, model deployment, and optimization.
