Room Technician

About the role

The Room Technician will respond to guest repair requests and perform preventive maintenance on tools, equipment and building systems at a Marriott hotel in Dubai. This role ensures that all guestroom and facility equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and attend guest repair requests, communicating with guests to resolve issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen equipment, and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment and machines; carry necessary tools and radios.
• Identify, locate and operate shut‑off valves for equipment and building utilities.
• Maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies as needed.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved procedures.
• Prepare surfaces, paint, perform minor drywall and wood trim repairs, replace light bulbs and A/C filters, and clean work areas.
• Test, troubleshoot and carry out basic repairs on equipment, plumbing (unclog drains, plunge toilets), electrical components (lamps, switches, outlets), and guestroom items.
• Program televisions, perform general housekeeping and engineering inventory duties.
• Use Lockout/Tagout system before any maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping, including sprinkler systems.
• Input air‑handler schedules and adjust temperature settings using basic computer skills.
• Follow all company safety, security and environmental policies.

Required profile

• Basic knowledge or ability to acquire knowledge in air‑conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and general building maintenance.
• Ability to work safely using Lockout/Tagout procedures and to follow safety training and certifications.
• Good communication skills to interact with guests and shift teams.
