Secondary History Teacher

About the role

GEMS Cambridge International School is seeking an experienced and passionate History Teacher for its secondary programme. The role involves delivering the IGCSE and A‑Level History curriculum to a diverse student body in Abu Dhabi.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess engaging History lessons for secondary students.
• Prepare resources and examinations aligned with IGCSE and A‑Level standards.
• Provide constructive feedback and support to improve student performance.
• Collaborate with department colleagues and contribute to cross‑phase initiatives.
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress to parents and school leadership.

Required profile

• Qualified teacher with QTS or PGCE in History (distance or open‑university degrees not accepted).
• Minimum two years of teaching experience in an IGCSE/A‑Level environment.
• All certificates must be duly attested.
• Experience with High Performance Learning (HPL) is an advantage.

Required skills

• Creative and enthusiastic approach to teaching both inside and outside the classroom.
• Strong team player, able to work across departments and phases.
• Excellent IT proficiency and interpersonal communication skills for interaction with students and parents.
• Fluent command of English.
