Senior Accountant – Credit Control

About the role

The Senior Accountant – Credit Control is responsible for overseeing credit control and debt collection across an assigned portfolio of accounts. The role ensures that payment plans are adhered to, implements the approved credit policy, and supports senior management in maintaining a robust credit control function.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and evaluate new credit requests, reviewing customer credit rankings with banks.
• Monitor credit reports, flag high‑risk customers, and enforce the credit policy.
• Proactively manage debt collection, maintain communication with customers, and issue account statements.
• Review and implement customer payment plans, acting as the primary point of contact for queries and dispute resolution.
• Prepare working files for bad‑debt and expected credit loss (ECL) provisions and coordinate with treasury and collection teams.
• Eliminate non‑value‑adding activities and seek automation for repetitive tasks.
• Prepare weekly credit control performance reports, ageing reports, and provision reports.
• Support legal escalation and senior management with customer file preparation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 6‑8 years of experience in credit control, accounts receivable, collections or revenue accounting.
• Proven track record in debt collection, credit assessment and managing a portfolio of customer accounts.
• Strong experience preparing and analysing ageing, collection and provision reports.
• Excellent English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.
